Privacy & principles
MapMyNoise is a personal noise diary. It exists to help you understand the sounds in your own environment — not to monitor, identify, or report on anyone else.
What we collect
- The noise entries you choose to create: a short description, type, approximate time, duration, intensity, a general location area, and optional notes.
- An approximate map point that you place by hand to position an entry.
- The account details needed to sign you in (your email/username and a securely hashed password).
What we never do
- No audio. The app never accesses a microphone or records sound.
- No identifying people. There is deliberately no field for who made a noise. Please log sounds, not neighbours.
- No precise tracking. Locations are approximate areas you set yourself, not live GPS trails.
- No sharing. Your entries are scoped to your account and are not shown to other users, sold, or handed to third parties.
Your data, your control
- You can edit or permanently delete any entry at any time from your log.
- Data is stored locally for this app instance; only you (when signed in) can see your entries.
Please use MapMyNoise responsibly: record your own experience of noise, keep locations general, and never use it to single out or harass another person.
